There are so many uses for flowers beyond floral design. Flowers and plant matter can be utilized in paper making, textiles, essential oil production, soap making, dried floral art and so much more! Caitlin has grown flowers, designed flowers, and also produces natural botanical dyes with flowers. Now she is going to teach you how to do that too.

Caitlin Robinson is an ethereal floral designer, using her knowledge as a flower grower to inform her aesthetic. Her artistry in color and texture extends to botanical dyes, textiles and foraged materials of “place.” She will be on our farm on October 8th.

Join us on October 8th from 10am - 4pm for a full immersion into making botanical dyes. Caitlin will provide students with guidance about the best flowers to use when creating dyes, the needed materials, and the step by step process used to successfully extract the ideal tones and shades for textiles. You will learn what to do, how to do it and you will leave with a scarf or set of napkins that you made during the workshop!

A light lunch and drinks will be served on both days and we will enjoy a glass of wine (or non-alcoholic beverage) and some sweet treats together before parting ways at the end of the day.

In addition, this workshop will be taking place on a working flower farm. You will be invited to a tour of Grateful Gardeners’ flower fields, growing and processing production areas, as well as a guided tour through the new and state of the art Aquaponics greenhouse, one of the only floriculture greenhouses of it’s kind in the world.
